85% of 2004 seniors took the ACT.

ACT scores have been above the national average for the past 5 years.

DHS is one of the TOP TEN in the state for ACT and SAT scores.


Advanced Placement courses are offered in English and Human Geography.

AP English and AP Human Geography scores are significantly above the national average.

DHS is the only public high school in Tennessee to offer AP Human Geography.

End of Course Tests in 2004 -- % of students tested proficient or advanced:

Foundations II = 94.2%

English 10 = 97%

Biology = 99%

Algebra I = 100%


Scholarships for the Class of 2004 totaled $2.2 million. (excluding lottery money)

50% of 2004 seniors received scholarships.

Students have been admitted to Duke, Brown, Loyolla, UNC at Chapel Hill, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Stanford, William and Mary, Birmingham Southern,  Spellman, Pratt, University of the South, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, West Point, the U.S. Naval and Air Force Academies, and Harvard.


DHS students were recognized as "High School Heroes" for their contribution to the September 11 relief effort.

The students raised over $2,000 for Tsunami Relief in 2005.

 


All DHS choirs received Superior ratings at competition this year.

Ten DHS choir students were chosen to be in the All-State Choir in Spring, 2002.


The Trojan Torchnewspaper has received the highest awards from:

Columbia Scholastic Press Asson., Tennessee Press Asson., Southern Scholastic Press Asson., and the International Quill and Scroll Society.

This year DHS journalists received 11 individual awards from the

Tennessee High School Press Association.

The staff also produces the DHS Video Yearbook.
