Dyersburg Intermediate School is an active place to be during
the school year. The 925 students in third, fourth, and fifth grades are
actively engaged in learning each day they attend. The faculty and staff
utilize traditional instructional techniques as well as modern technology
and sound teaching strategies to stretch students' minds and prepare them
for the future. Regular classroom instruction is enhanced with other classes
in art, computer, music, p.e., character education and guidance, as well
as a full range of Special Education activities. The faculty and staff
support each child with care and concern.
D.I.S. is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools. A large portion of our staff has received advanced degrees.
Our support services include our Extended School Program that provides
child care from 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. Breakfast and lunch are served by
our cafeteria staff, and the Dyersburg Intermediate Association is the
parent support group that participates in varous ways to help us reach
our goals as a school. The HOSTS (Helping One Student To Suceed) program
is a nationally-recognized tutorial program where mentors from our community
help each day in our learning environment. Also included in our curriculum
are Accelerated Reader, Accelerated Math, Literacy Learning, Honors Programs,
and Presidential Physical Fitness Awards.
